"We choose to do these things, not because they are easy, but because they are difficult."
I chose to shoot GF because it is the Hardest, (and coolest) category. The difficulty begins with sighting both pistols and ends with the transitions. All more difficult, than the "other ways" to shoot.
Then, I improved enough to beat a certain someone, so.....I needed to add more difficulty re:SMOKE!
Why did I choose to make it harder on myself? Because that's what's FUN, to me. Gaming the BP category ? Of course I'm gonna game it. Wind blows that way. I'll start with that target. How to make more smoke with less recoil, I'm werking on it. Wrist breaking loads? No thanks! Maybe one day when I'm all growed up, but Safety first!
Saturday I tried to shoot the 45's both LC in the rifle and the 45 spcl. in the pistol on my last two stages in Iredell (stages 3 & 4). Woe was me! I left 4 plates with the pistol. (Had 10 shots and lucked up once.) No idea as to where the bullets really hit. OK, I know they hit the berm, just not the steel. I was able to get them with the rifle on the next stage, but I flubbed up, and shot the pistols WRONG! Hit em all but still had a P.
I am going to keep shooting the 38's because, right now, I don't feel comfortable shooting 45's. (Heck even 38's are "warm" loads to me.) I may need to adjust the powder down a notch as they were even hotter than I'd remembered from my few "test" rounds (3f 777?).
The Smoking 45 Rifle rounds were fun, it's hard to see the "Star" in the FOG!
I'll never give up! But, I do realize my comfort zone, and my skill level (very low) must be considered.
If you've ever wondered why I do the things I do, shoot the way I shoot, or just, "What the ell is he thinking". I'm thinking FUN! That's all. That's it. The whole thing is about FUN, and it is, " A whole lotta Fun."
